About Cambodia country
The Kingdom of Cambodia formerly known as Kampuchea or Preăh Réachéa Nachâk Kâmpŭchea, derived from SanskritKambujadesa), is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of over 14 million people. The kingdom's capital, political, commercial, industrial and largest city is Phnom Penh. Cambodia is the successor state of the once powerful Hindu and Buddhist Khmer Empire, which ruled most of the Indochinese Peninsula between the 11th and 14th centuries.
A citizen of Cambodia is usually identified as "Cambodian" or "Khmer," though the latter strictly refers to ethnic Khmers. Most Cambodians are Theravada Buddhists of Khmer extraction, but the country also has a substantial number of predominantly Muslim
Cham, as well as ethnic Chinese, Vietnamese and small animist hill tribes.
The country borders Thailand to its west and northwest, Laos to its northeast and Vietnam to its east and southeast. In the south it faces the Gulf of Thailand. The geography of Cambodia is dominated by the Mekong River ( Khmer: Tonle Thom or "the great river") and the Tonlé Sap ("the fresh water lake"), an important source of fish.
Agriculture has long been the most important sector of the Cambodian economy, with around 75-80% of the population relying on agriculture for their livelihood (with rice being the principal crop). Garments, tourism, and construction are also important. In 2007, foreign visitors to Angkor Wat numbered more than 4 million. In 2005, oil and natural gas deposits were found beneath Cambodia's territorial waters, and once commercial extraction begins in 2011, the oil revenues could profoundly affect Cambodia's economy.

The internationally renowned site of Angkor, arguably Southeast Asia’s premier historic tourist destination, is situated in northwest Cambodia, a country on the mainland bordered by Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Angkor was the administrative, cultural, and political center of the Khmer civilization, between the ninth and the mid-fifteenth centuries, when it was the dominant power in the region. The art and architectural remains are one of the Khmer's greatest legacies to mankind and many consider the temple of Angkor wat , one of the seven architectural wonders of the wold .beside the ancient glories of Angkor, Cambodia's geographical makeup includes beaches, islands, mountains, and jungles, which offer unique opportunities for the tourists to explore and enjoy an unspoiled tropical environment.
Cambodia covers an area of 181,035 square kilometers divided in to twenty-four provinces with three major cities, which are Phnom Penh (the capital), Sihanoukville, and Siem Reap. Cambodia's monsoonal climate is marked by two seasons--wet (from May to October) and dry (from November to April).
(Al though Cambodia is one of the world’s poorest countries, it is rich in natural resources including fish, forest, gems, rubber, and rice. Today eighty-five per cent of Cambodia’s population work in agriculture, making Cambodia an agrarian-based economy, Most modern Cambodians are Theravada Buddhists but many also adhere to the traditional animistic beliefs that pre-date formalize religion.
Travel in Cambodia with Cambodia Tours for amazing experience where you can learn firsthand about Cambodia and its rich history. Our staff will greet you warmly, look after your safety, and introduce you to Cambodia, its people and its culture.
Angkor wat, is the Hindu temple or mausoleum, is the largest religious Building in the world, and the one of the most beautifully impressive structures built the humankind. it’s up there with the Pyramids and the Taj Mahal. Thousands labored for three decades to create this magnificent dream in stone. but this 12th century temple is much more than its sublime architecture can convey: it is the hart and soul of Cambodia.
Most Cambodians have never had an opportunity to visit Angkor Wat has been on every national flag in one shape or another since 1863.Since the mid-1990s,it has also become one of the world’s best visited tourist sits. Angkor Wat means “Royal monastery city,’’ which is probably a variation on the Sanskrit world nagara, which means ‘’capital.’’ The world wat is Thai for ‘’temple,’’ and the term was probably added when the building become Buddhist.
I still glimpse of the temple ,it’s the sheer size ,more than anything else, that throws the visitor the moat is 1.5kilometers by 1.3kilometers long and 200meters wide ,and it carries it water to this day. simply walking around the complex take a couple of hours .the vastness of the Angkor wat makes it difficult to guess its
exact shape, even as on stands on the causeway in front of the entry towers(take a few steps to your left, off the terrace that marks start of the causeway, and you will be able to see all five towers).the cause way inside is 250meters long and 12meters wide Angkor wat was built during the and perhaps beyond of the reign of the SuryavarmanII (1113-1152). latter is more likely as kher temple gate faces to the east and But Angkor wat gate faces west
Angkor wat is classic temple –mountain replica of the Hindu universe. the five towers is represent the different peaks of the Mount Meru, home to the Hindu pantheon ,which site in the center of the universe .
The Royal City of Angkor Thom, the last Angkor area capital,
was built by the great Mahayanist Buddhist king Jayavarman VII (1181-1219 AD) and it served as the center of the powerful Khmer Empire during his reign. An eight food high wall surrounded by a moat encloses the city . Five majestic causeways, each with an imposing sandstone entry tower, give access to the city. Inside, there are numerous temples, remains of the royal palace, and the king’s state temple, the Bayon, situated at the exact geographical center of the city. The Bayon is the favorite temple of many visitors because of its unusual multitude of towers, each with four gigantic faces staring in a cardinal direction; because of it's stone wall carved in reliefs with scenes that reveal what life was like for the Khmer people in the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries. Scenes of daily life are vividly portrayed giving visitors a window into market , floral, fauna, birds, animals and ever battles with the neighboring Chams who invaded Angkor from southern Vietnam -it's truly a history book in stone .
The descriptions above are only two of over 100 sites that are have been cleared, safe and accessible to visitors today.

For decades off limits to all but the most intrepid tourists, today Southeast Asia’s Cambodia is a popular destination for all kinds of travellers: from independent backpackers who roam far off the beaten track to explore the stunning sugar-palm dotted hinterland to luxury tourists who stay in style and see Cambodia’s main draw card of Angkor Wat between massages and exquisite French meals.
The ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat is Cambodia’s national treasure. The nearby city of Siem Reap has developed dramatically since the days Angelina Jolie filmed Tomb Raider here and fell in love with the nation. While some lament the discovery of Angkor by the masses, the site is still breathtaking and Siem Reap offers all the comforts one could wish for on any budget.
Kingdom of Cambodia is situated in Southeast Asia, bordered to the North by Thailand and Laos, the East and the South by Vietnam and the West by the Gulf of Thailand. The country is completely based on agriculture in which they collect the harvest during the whole year:
- Long Term Rice in rainy season
- Short Term Rice in dry season where the fields are nearby is the irrigation
canal system. Cambodia has also the farm-land along the both sides of Mekong and Tonle Sap river where they plant corn, potatoes, cabbages, cucumber and many other different kind of vegetables. We plant as well the tree-fruit like banana, mango, jackfruit, sugar-cane, milk-apple, durian, etc…
Besides all above, Tonle Sap Lake is the largest fishy-region in Asia. Kingdom of Cambodia has rubber, teak wood, timber and all kind of best quality wood for furniture.
We have only two distinguished season: the rainy season from May to October, the dry season from November to April with 25 to 35 degrees C. Sometimes reaches 39 degrees under the shade. The best time for a visit to Cambodia is from November to January with only 20 to 30 degrees C.
In the Northeast, the mountainous region with beautiful evergreen landscape where many different ethnic minority living in
The majority of visitors arrive by air from Phnom Penh and Bangkok, though there are also flights from several other major cities in Southeast Asia. For international overland travel from surrounding countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos).
Cambodian visas are available on arrival at both airports and most international border checkpoints. The crossing at Aranyaprathet/Poipet is closest and most convenient to Siem Reap (the road is very good condition). The road from Phnom Penh is very good condition and there are regular buses, taxis and vans running between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap as well as a daily river ferry service.

Air
Siem Reap Airways offer several daily flights to/from Phnom Penh.
Buses
Bus travel is now the most popular means of overland transport between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The road (National Route #6) is paved and smooth and there are several regularly scheduled daily buses in both directions, taking only 5 or 6 hours to make the trip.
River Ferry
Daily ferries ply the Tonle Sap river and lake between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The end of the trip is marked by a hill, Phnom Krom, near the ferry dock at Chong Khneas 12 km south of Siem Reap. During the dry season when the water is low, the ferry stops short of the dock and passengers transfer to smaller boats to traverse the final few hundred meters.

Hours of operation in Cambodia are somewhat different than in other countries. Cambodians typically take long lunches, and the opening hours for government offices and some business offices are usually from 7.30am to 11.30am, and then from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. If you show up at an office at 1pm for example, you may find no one there.
Practically speaking, Cambodia has four seasons:
November-February, cool/dry;
March-May, hot/dry, June-August, hot/wet; September-October, cool/wet.
The hottest days of the hot season rarely climb above 35°C though the sun can be quite intense. The cool season may push the mercury as low as 20°C. The monsoons between June and October follow a regular pattern, clear mornings with 1-3 hour rains in the afternoon. The cool dry season is more comfortable but the regularity of the wet season rains make them easy to plan around.
